A plain plug-to-socket 12 V extension: cigarette-lighter plug with a 15 A fuse and LED on one end, socket on the other, 18 AWG, 3 ft. In our cooling/warming adapter build this cord is cut in the middle and the reversing switch spliced into the gap — so the plug and socket come in one part and nothing is hardwired.

Description

Used unmodified, it is simply a 3 ft extension for any 12 V accessory up to 15 A.

Chosen for the cooling/warming adapter build because it is exactly what the adapter needs to be: a plug on one end, a socket on the other, a fuse in the plug, and cheap enough to cut. 18 AWG is the same gauge as a Coleman cooler’s own cord and is comfortably rated for the cooler’s ~4 A draw (the cord is rated 15 A). Also available in 6 ft and 12 ft on the same listing if you want the switch further from the dash, and as a 2-pack.
