Replacement Parts for Igloo Cooler Warmers

Parts and accessories for Igloo thermoelectric cooler warmers — the KoolMate (8, 18, 32, 36 and 40-quart), Kool Cruiser, Kool Karmate, Cool Chill and Iceless lines. Some parts are still easy to buy; Igloo stopped making others a long time ago. This page covers both, honestly.

Power: cords and wall adapters

Igloo has used more than one connector shape on the cooler end over the years, so compare the socket on your cooler with the photo before you order. The genuine Igloo 8-foot cord below is listed for the Cool Chill, KoolMate and Iceless coolers.

To run the cooler indoors, plug its own 12-volt cord into an AC-to-DC converter. Check the rating label on your cooler first — Igloo’s Iceless 28-quart, for example, is rated 4.6–4.8 amps — and choose a converter with headroom above that. The Wagan EL9904 supplies 10 amps. Our AC-to-DC converters compared guide covers the options.

Protecting your vehicle’s battery

A thermoelectric cooler draws current the whole time it is plugged in. Left running with the engine off, it can flatten a battery overnight. Two ways to prevent that, plus an adapter for wiring straight to a battery:

Replacement motors (discontinued)

Igloo no longer makes replacement motors for these coolers, and we have not been able to find any for sale, new or used, on Amazon or eBay. If your fan or motor has failed, it helps to know which one you have — check the date stamp on the bottom of the cooler:

  • Made before January 1994: brush-type motor, Igloo part 9434. Igloo later replaced it with conversion kit 8244.
  • Made after January 1994: brushless motor, Igloo part 8161, used in the KoolMate 8, 18, 32 and 36 and the Kool Cruiser.
  • Kit 8244: brushless motor, replacement circuit board, fan and universal bracket, for converting brush-type KoolMate 8, 18, 32 and 36 and Kool Karmate coolers. It did not fit Kool Rider coolers, or Kool Cruisers made before April 1995.
  • 9351: brush-type motor kit for the KoolMate 8.
  • RoadPro RPSMM: replacement motor for the RoadPro RPSF-5234 cooler.

If one of these turns up, it will most likely be on eBay — a live eBay search for Igloo KoolMate motors is the best place to watch. A used cooler of the same model is sometimes the only source of a working motor. Otherwise, see our current 12-volt coolers.
